Certain users will not be able to download .exe files owing to the internal security existing on their networks.

If your site or place of work blocks you from downloading .exe files then please click on the image below to download DFT.zip: this is a normal ZIP file containing the installation files for the Travel Plan Evaluation Tool. You will have to use a decompression tool such as WinZip to open DFT.zip and extract the installation files. If you do not have a decompression tool such as WinZip talk to your IT people or system administrator to resolve this.

A window will appear 'file download' prompting you to decide what you would like to do with this file. Click on 'open this file from its current location.'

Once in Win Zip, click on EXTRACT. This will ask you to select a directory to place the files contained within the DFT file

INSTRUCTIONS

DFT.exe is a self-extracting ZIP file containing the installation files for the Travel Plan Evaluation Tool. Once the file DFT.exe is on your hard drive, DOUBLE-CLICK on it from Explorer. This will bring up a screen that will give you the option to select a directory to place the files contained within the DFT.exe file

Choose some empty directory on an available drive. C:\TEMP is a good choice (as you won't be hanging onto these files) but on most machines C:\TEMP is full of hundreds of "junk" files which may make finding the extracted files difficult.

Click on OK to start the (short) extraction process.

Using Explorer, find the directory into which you extracted the Installation files.

DOUBLE-CLICK on the Installation file called Setup.exe. This will start the Installation process.

INSTALLATION

If you immediately get a message saying something like "You do not have permission to run this on your machine" then this indicates that your network is protected against users putting programs onto their PCs. Talk to your IT people or System Administrator to resolve this.

Otherwise follow the instructions on the Installation routine.

IMPORTANT

The installation routine for the Travel Plan Evaluation software is designed to allow installation onto computers with wildly differing characteristics. This means that it may try to create files on your machine that already exist there. Therefore it's possible that you will get worrying messages like

"xxxxxx.dll already exists on your machine - Abort, Retry, Ignore?"
or
"xxxxxx.dll is in use and is write protected"

In these situations always choose "IGNORE". Also, ignore any messages that claim that "this application may not work properly". It will.

Lastly, once the installation routine is complete, you'll want to run the Travel Plan Evaluation Tool.

Go to the START menu, then PROGRAMS. Then click on TRAVEL PLAN EVALUATION, then TRAVEL PLAN EVALUATION. This should run the Travel Plan Evaluation program.

You can delete the Setup files in the C:/Temp directory (or wherever you put them) once installation is complete.
